Shoeboxes of Love

During Term 2, our Whanau value was Character and each Whanau Group was charged with putting together a Shoebox of Love for a child at Starship Hospital.

Finally, yesterday our two community student leaders and I went into Starship to deliver the boxes. We met with Mandy from the Starship Foundation who told us they need to raise between $5 and $10 million

 per year on top of what the government gives them.

It was a sobering place to visit - obviously, very colourful and bright. But the children and parents are only there because a child is sick. Sick enough to be in hospital.
