Walking Foot

I have invested in a generic brand walking foot for the school Berninas after being told a genuine Bernina foot was going to cost $240! There's no way I can justify spending that much (of the school's) money. The generic one from Trade Me was $70.

One of my jobs after school today was to teach myself how to use it. I thought it would take hours, be hugely complicated, involving playing with the tension, etc. How wrong I was.

One youtube clip later, I had the foot attached. Then I just thought I'd put my foot down and see what happens. Perfect! Well perfect enough for our Made From the Heart Quilts we will continue to work on tomorrow afternoon. We have only three Wednesdays to go. I am hoping we get a couple of quilts quilted tomorrow. Exciting!

  1. I'm so glad the generic one worked. I had heard the Bernina ones were nearly the same price as gold. Welcome to the world of straight line quilting! I can't tell if you lengthened your stitches at all, but I generally lengthen mine for quilting.
