The Clash

Whatever happened to rules like 'blue and green should never be seen'? And the idea that pink and red clash?

I saw a great bag at school a while ago that was red, orange, pink and yellow plaid. I loved the combination of colours.

I am keen to give them a go using the Empty Bobbin's Cross Hatch pattern. Technically, I need six colours for the pattern, but I am wondering whether I can get away with these four plus white or a bluey-grey? And I am unsure about which colour to use as the 'background' fabric. I don't want it to look hideously bright and I don't want it to be a pink quilt or a yellow quilt or an orange quilt or a red quilt. Yes, I know I could have chosen colours than blend better like the one on the pattern. Maybe I will go for a neutral and use the colours for all the lines? Things to think about.

  1. I love these colours! I think maybe on a blue/grey background? I really like the idea of solids only - I want to do one in HSTs.

  2. I like the idea of a light grey background - then these colours would really pop! Oh and I'm with Megan - solids only sounds fabulous!

  3. I remember those rules! How fun it is to break them now. I love the colors you've chosen. I'm sure you'll find the perfect background.
