Prototyping for the Round Robin

Our Monday Modern group has started a round robin. I have passed on tui o'clock -

At our gathering last week, I received June's centre block. She must have a nice collection of low volume fabrics.

I was keen to replicate the green flying geese-like shapes, so set out to prototype possible triangles using scrap fabrics-

It really was trial and error. In all my reading about innovation and creativity for school, the message is fail early, fail fast. Apparently, it breeds resilience, perseverance and creativity. So I don't feel too bad that this took me a while to work out!

Once I ended with the kind of proportions I was after, I pulled some fabrics from the stash that went with June's originals. Here is a sneak peek at my finished border -

I would love to see some gold or fuchsia added to this quilt in the next round.

  1. Love that idea of 'fail early, fail fast' - it's a great way to approach a creative challenge. I'll remember that one. I like what you've done so far and the fabrics complement nicely. Looking forward to seeing everything next month.
