My bee block has been moved forward from May to April. I have been collecting and collating ideas for a while and they were for very uniform blocks, but after doing Carolyn's bee block I decided to be more open to possibilities.
So my instructions are - 'make me a tree measuring between 6 and 8 inches high, set in a 12.5 inch block'. I am open to whatever I get.
I have given fellow Monday Modernists (?) some Echino green, a strip of brown (thinking tree trunk and/or branches) and some Spotlight solids in three shades of natural. I have had a fat quarter of the Echino for over a year and found some more on etsy and then closer to home at All Things Patchwork.
I know no one likes brown and it's very un-modern, but it's not like I want green or orange tree trunks.
I like brown and I think its a good idea to have similar overall colours for cohesion. Am looking forward to playing around with trees and seeing them all together when they are done!
ReplyDeleteI like the 'free choice' bee blocks - I have about 5 ideas already. The only problem will be choosing.
ReplyDeleteI found Carolyn's a good challenge, so took her idea. Hopefully people are less worried about the result being perfect!
DeleteUhm, I loooove brown? I didn't know that no one likes it! ;) :P
ReplyDeleteGlad you like brown. When I was a child I had a friend who felt sorry for purple because no one liked purple!
DeleteI am really enjoying these monthly bee blocks. It's such a great chance to play...... with ideas, colour & technique. Linda
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to doing this block. Part of the fun is looking at all the possibilities and then deciding on just ONE.
