Today I felt like sewing.
I had 3 of Helen's fat quarters left so I decided to make another charity quilt. I got the idea for this one from Sunday Morning Quilts. It was a great opportunity to get rid of fabrics I am a bit sick of ... all of those Denyse Schmidt prints that came out at least 3 years ago. And I took the opportunity to use some scraps I acquired last year when our Monday Modern group did a scrap swap.
I think I will place a moratorium on buying any more blue or green fabric for a while. It's time for a change.
I love the idea putting that greener block in!
ReplyDeleteThe one in the book uses orange I think. That would have been cool, but I don't have a lot of orange fabrics.
DeleteYou felt like sewing so just made a quilt :). No big deal :). Looks great :)
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty easy - no rules and all the fabric off the shelf!
DeleteLooks fantastic Karyn, I always find a bit of improv is a relaxing way to get some sewing done, and it is very satisfying to find a good home for those scraps. If you are less keen on machine quilting it, I would be happy to quilt it up for Helen's charity.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heather. I managed some horizontal lines this afternoon and will try a few vertical ones next weekend. How anyone manges anything other than straightlines on a domestic machine is a mystery to me!
DeleteI really love this! The colours, the improv piecing too
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carla. I quite enjoyed having no real rules and making it up as I went.
DeleteI love it too!! A fast & fun way to use up those greens&blues, and going to a good cause, L
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. If I didn't have to go to school tomorrow, I could probably get it finished!
DeleteI LOVE how it came out. Blue and green fabrics are my favorite, but my scrap bins are overflowing so it may be time to dig out my copy of SMQ and see what I could do also. Might be a good heads and tails project as I need a new one anyway.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about blue and green? I just can't help myself. My day to day clothes have more variation!
DeleteWow...that came out great! I have a pile of scraps in the same colors...thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathy. It's a good one for using up medium to large scraps.
DeleteWhat a great use for your extra blocks. The colors are just lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It was good to have a bit of a clean out.
DeleteI really love this little quilt!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Yvonne.
DeleteLove this fabulous modern quilt. Your improv blocks are great.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Deletevisiting from show and tell. Love the blocks and quilt
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! And I will be more than happy to take any other fabrics that you are sick of. ;D
