My days at school follow the pattern of run, school, rest/waste time.
I got my run up to 7km on Friday morning. I so thought I was on my last k when my watched clicked over and it was only 6, so I had to push on. Looking at my stats, my pace hasn’t changed much at all. It takes me about 6:25 to run a km. My first km is always the slowest. I think it’s the most up hill, and not a big hill to the eye, but just a consistent slope really. I enjoy the second km on the flat. The third to fourth km is always the hardest. To avoid aggravating my knee, I run back down my road on the diagonal which must look weird. Fortunately, there are still very few cars on my road and even fewer people about at that time. In the five weeks since I started running I have doubled my distance. And last week I added a km between Mon and Fri. I reckon, I could go further but would just like to be able to get all way up the hill to get home. That might add just another 200m. Sometimes I think I will keep this running happening when the gym re-opens - just on a Sunday morning. I certainly won’t have 9am starts once we are back full time, so won’t be running in the morning. I will be interested to see how running has affected my gym fitness. I bet I have lost a bit of core and arm muscle strength.
Being back at work has brought my daily sewing to a halt. Fair enough. I am being paid to do my actual job. However, this weekend I have completed the kilim quilt top.
I really like the pink and yellow combos in my free wheeling single girl quilt, so used the leftovers from there for this. I made the throw size ... I think it’s more like a good baby size as it won’t throw over much adult size.
It was pretty easy to put together. I did find I had to get down to 1/8th inch seam allowance to preserve any points on my triangles though. I didn’t pay enough attention to that yesterday so have lots of unpointy triangles which is disappointing.
I do think this will hand quilt up nicely, which influenced me to buy the pattern. It will have to join the queue though as I haven’t touched the woolly mammoth all week, have the proverbial quilt basted and need to get the free wheeling single girl quilted by early January.
