Yay ... I didn't let myself go to bed until I had finished all the quilting on Aunty Judy's Wonky Log Cabin. Consequently, I have one sore underneath the quilt needle poked finger.
Lucy the Cat was a great help - trying to sleep under the quilt as it was being quilted.
I attached the binding today and it's ready to be handsewn down.
First, I had to straighten up the quilt. I cut each side back to about 1/2 inch. I am using 4 inch binding folded in half.
Pin, pin, pin.
Sew, sew, sew 1/4 inch from the edge using a small stich. Stopping about 1/4 inch from the corner and back stitching a couple of stitches.
Mitre the corner with a swift 45 degree fold this way and then that way.
More pinning and more sewing.
I am beginning to master the tidiest ever binding finish. But I still have to
look it up every time on youtube to remind myself.
Looking good Karyn! Cats are so funny they way the have to be part of quiltmaking!!
ReplyDeleteI really must try that binding trick on my next quilt - thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteI find it a little bit fiddly, but should probably leave more of the binding not sewn down before trying to join the ends together.
