My First Lucky Star

I decided to join the Lucky Stars BOM run by Elizabeth Dackson aka Don't Call Me Betsy. It cost a big $10US for the year which is only about $12NZ at the moment. We were emailed a practice block. Skipped that and went straight into the real thing. Practice schmactice.

The instructions are about 10 pages long. I'd imagine they'd be helpful if you were a beginner as they are step by step with photos and words. I read the first two steps and then just went ahead.

And in five easy steps (x 4) you've got yourself one of these beauties ...

All of the fabrics, apart from the yellow which is almost the last of my shot cotton yellow, came from Spotlight. I bought a half metre of a few colours and lots of the background which is called 'Slate'. My faves are the pink (the same watermelon pink I used in the Teal and Pink HST quilt) and the light blue.

I am looking forward to the February block.

As always there's a flickr pool for this BOM. Two blocks that stand out for me are Tabatha's at Bending Pins. And Shannon's. I like their colour choices.
